- Dr. Draper earned the EdD from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 1984 and joined Brigham Young University by 1987 as an assistant professor in the HPER Department.
- He rose to Professor of Athletic Training at Brigham Young University, where his BYU affiliation appears on 31 of his 33 affiliation-bearing indexed papers across 1992-2021, including the Graduate Athletic Training Program in Provo, Utah.
- He is co-author, with Kenneth L. Knight, of the textbook "Therapeutic Modalities", published in editions from 2006 through 2012.
