This study investigated the immediate effects of kinesiotaping on 22 individuals with chronic rotator cuff tendinopathy. Researchers measured the acromiohumeral distance (the space between the arm bone and the shoulder blade) using ultrasound, both at rest and during shoulder abduction, before and after applying kinesiotape. The study found that kinesiotaping significantly increased the subacromial space during shoulder abduction by approximately 0.94 mm, a change that exceeded the threshold for clinical significance. This increase in space can reduce compression on the rotator cuff tendons during movement, supporting the use of supportive taping as a protective measure for rotator cuff injuries.
